So I've decided to re-do my blog, meaning all previous posts have been deleted. Let's see how this goes...
I've got another blog, DeceptiFighters, that I have to keep up with, so this might be where I post random short stories or descriptions of people/places/things/ideas for my NaNo things.
Let's start with Ransom Latone's apartment!
As you walk in the door of the apartment he shares with his sister, Kayley, you see a slightly worn, faded brown couch. Directly across from it, to your left, is a television, resting on a stand. The stand also holds a DVD player. Next to the TV is a short bookshelf filled with DVDs. A small, scuffed-up coffee table sits in between the TV and the couch. It's cluttered with remotes, books, papers, anything you think might belong on a coffee table. The walls are a light brown color.
On to the kitchen.
The living room is directly connected to the kitchen. There's a bar with three or four stools. The refrigerator sits at the end of the bar. There's no room for a table. On the other side of that bar rests the stove and several cabinets, to hold dishes, or maybe food. At the far end of the kitchen is a sink, which doubles as the dishwasher. Beside that is a toaster oven. The space between the bar and the marble counter is just big enough for a single person. The walls are painted a soft, minty green.
Exit the kitchen and go into the hall. The first room on the left is his room. His full-size bed takes up a little less than half of the space, but there is still room for a banjo and an acoustic guitar. There are grey sheets and a black comforter covering his bed. Both his instruments have stands. His laptop sits on the floor beside his bed, beside his banjo. His guitar stays at the foot of his bed. His closet, which is most always open and messy, is located across from his bed. A mostly-filled bookshelf is right beside it. The floor is almost always clear of any clothes or trash. The walls are painted the same light brown color as the front room, and it has dark brown baseboards.
(The guitar looks like this, but without the autographs. http://www.hollywoodmemorabilia.com/authentic-memorabilia/the-avett-brothers-signed-sunburst-acoustic-guitar-autographed-seth-scott.html)
Directly across from his room are two doors that slide open to reveal a washing machine and a dryer. There are a couple of shelves above them that are used to house detergent, towels, etc. This is also where the thermostat is located.
Take a few steps down the hall again and look to your right again. There is a small, dimly lit bathroom. The sink is a few inches too short for the occupants of the apartment but is cluttered with toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, make-up, face washes, etc. A rarely-used electric razor sits on the counter, constantly charging. There is a toilet beside the sink, and there is a small shower beside that. The shower curtain is dark blue. The walls were sponge-painted with alternating shades of grey.
There is another bedroom that belongs to his sister. She has a full-size bed as well, and it has green sheets and a plaid comforter with most, if not all, of the colors in a rainbow. Clothes, binders, papers, and other bits and pieces clutter the floor, the dresser, the bed, the desk, and the nightstand. There is, in fact, a laptop on the desk, but one can hardly see it, on account of the mountain of papers on top of it. The walls are also a light brown, and the baseboards are dark brown.
The next and last room is the one that's used for storage. They haven't lived in the apartment long enough to collect a lot of junk, but there are already a couple towering stack of boxes. A large dog crate is also stored in that room for their not-yet-full-grown dog, Kristofferson. The walls, once again, are a light brown and the baseboards are a dark brown.
The bathroom and the kitchen floors are made of hardwood, but every other room has a thick carpet with varying shades of brown.
I hope you enjoyed this tour of the Latone's apartment! Come again soon!
